Burgundy
Before embarking on a trip, there are always many expectations of what you expect to find in the Region. Some of the places can be a disappointment while some exceed your expectations. These places are not so familiar, and one of these places is Burgundy, France, a region full of merriment. It’s a place that lives to its name. It’s for this reason that Burgundy is always bustling with tourists throughout the year.
Burgundy Wines
Burgundy’s worldwide recognition comes from its wine. It is the home of wine, and here as expected, you will get the most expensive wines in the world. Red and White Wines are the most common. Wine lovers are probably conscious of the names Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Red wines are made of 100% from Pinot Noir, and white wine comprises 100% of that latter.
But what makes the wine in this Region the best? To better explain it, we look at the origin of the Region. Scientists claim that some 200 million years ago, the current place was occupied by a vast sea. However, with time, it was reduced to limestone soils that are currently found in the Region. These soils provide the minerals that are ideal for growing high-quality vines.
Burgundy’s Grapes planting dates back to the 1st century when the Romans introduced it. Today there are so many wineries in the Region that produce the best wine in the world.
If you are more interested in wine, do not forget to go to Chablis, a stunning village in the northern parts of Burgundy that produces the best white wine in the Region. Chateau de Meursault is another place to visit. It is a winery that spreads to over 60 hectares that have existed for more than 1000 years. Today it produces some of the wines served in the top restaurants in France and across Europe.
